Hi everyone! As you know, our school, Deep Run, is being renovated. There are eight phases of the renovation but you will learn more about the phases later. I would like to tell you about our first in-school renovation. On September 26, the workers started building two hallways. They worked over the weekend and were done by the time the students came in on Monday. The purpose of the hallways is to create another emergency exit for students to escape the building in case of an emergency. The first hallway will take seven feet from Ms. Calomeris’ first grade classroom. Now, their class can go down the new hallway and out the door when there is an emergency or during a fire drill. Our school will probably be done renovating by 2017 or even 2016. This blog will have many updates by the DRES students. Mrs. Rowe, a G/T Resource Teacher, has created an instructional seminar called “Under Construction” for 5th graders and Mrs. Wenzel has helped with technology. The students in this seminar will keep blogging every so often, so make sure to come back and check for more blog updates! Have a great year!
