Have you ever wondered what the construction workers did to our school? Well this article will tell you what they did. First, this project cost 19 million dollars! They took 28 months for the overall project and now this month they have finished renovating Deep Run Elementary.
Here are some of the facts about the school renovation. The AC system is 100 percent brand new. Students, staff, and parents are proud that we get a brand new place to learn. The hardest part about the project was the schedule and weather. Even if the weather and schedule is hard, the construction crew keeps working to finish the project. When they renovated the old soccer field, they dug 104 holes and the holes were 600 feet deep for the geothermal system.
The main requirement if you want to be an engineer or construction worker is you have to get along with people. Did you know that the construction workers favorite tools to use are the big tools like bulldozers, cranes? They are professional workers as you can tell. They worked on the Ravens stadium before and it cost $400,000,000 to build the Ravens stadium. They also worked on baseball stadiums too! Everyday is a different and new day for the construction workers and the engineers.
There were many conservation measures installed at our school. They put light sensors in the classrooms. If you leave the classroom for a period of time the lights will automatically turn off. They adjusted the water flow so we don't waste water these practices will save money and conserve energy.
They renovated every classroom in the school. The walls are freshly painted. Now we have white boards in our classrooms instead of blackboards. Also, we have a second floor for 5th grade because we needed more space for students. Our media center was enclosed so it is quieter. The construction workers put a lot of effort into our school. The students are very thankful.
