Today Mr. Streett came to our room to answer some questions that we had. Mr. Streett has to always keep in mind of the emergency exits so they students can get out of the building. He says that during construction school can be hazardous because people don’t pay attention where they walk and they can get hurt. All the construction workers look at all the progress on the way. The building is safe. If it wasn’t safe then it wouldn’t get pass inspection. He said the most challenging things were working in an occupied building.
The construction that you see on the field is closely connected to the heating in our school. One thing that will be happening soon is the new parking lot. The parking lot will have to be done before the field can be good as new. The soccer field has one hundred and four holes and they are each 600 ft deep. These holes are connected to the piping that is going through the school and they are supplying the heat in our school. The boilers in the old boiler room by Mr.Mac's office will be taken out and will not be replaced. They supplied the hot water and the heat to the school but soon we will be connected to a geothermal heat system.
Mr. Streett says that he has a great time working on buildings because he gets to know some of the new builders, managers and principals. Mr. Streett has a lot of jobs in a year but it is split into durations like he could be building, then the boss. There are more then 10-100 or more workers or builders on the project. Companies are split into groups and the groups are called divisions (1-16). One of the questions were what is your motivation and he said to be healthy and to support a growing family. In Mr. Streett's forty one years of being a builder he has worked on hotels, schools, colleges and car dealerships.
